CEO Times Contributor

DHL Supply Chain has named Mark Kunar as its new Chief Executive Officer for North America, effective immediately. The appointment follows the departure of Patrick Kelleher, who is set to become CEO of GXO Logistics in August. Kunar, a nearly 30-year veteran of DHL, previously served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Strategy Officer for the North American division.

In his new role, Kunar will oversee operations across the United States and Canada, managing a workforce of approximately 52,000 employees. He will report directly to Oscar de Bok, CEO of DHL Supply Chain.

Kunar began his career with DHL in 1996 as a financial analyst and has held various leadership positions in operations, finance, commercial, and strategic planning. In 2024, he was appointed CFO and Chief Strategy Officer, where he was instrumental in developing and implementing the North American growth strategy, aligning with DHL’s global Strategy 2030 initiative.

Under Kunar’s leadership, DHL Supply Chain has made significant acquisitions to enhance its service offerings in North America. These include the acquisition of Inmar Supply Chain Solutions, a leader in returns management;

In a statement, Kunar expressed his commitment to innovation and adaptability in the evolving logistics landscape:

“Customer supply chain needs are creating a transformative environment, necessitating innovation and adaptability to thrive in the current landscape. This role comes at a pivotal time, and we will use our expertise and product solutions to adapt and grow, ensuring that we remain a key partner to our customers.”

Oscar de Bok, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, praised Kunar’s appointment, stating:

“Mark’s broad supply chain and management expertise, paired with his proven commercial acumen and his balanced leadership style, makes him the ideal candidate to take our business into the future in this key market. His leadership will be instrumental in guiding DHL Supply Chain North America as we continue to focus on excellence and innovation in our operations.”

Kunar’s immediate focus will be on the seamless integration of the newly acquired businesses into DHL’s existing operations and strengthening the company’s position as a leading contract logistics provider in North America.

This leadership change comes as DHL continues to invest in its North American operations to meet increasing demand in sectors such as retail, healthcare, and manufacturing logistics. The company aims to enhance its e-commerce capabilities and drive innovation through automation and technology integration.
