Vibhor Jain Takes the Helm as Acting CEO of ONDC
The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) has announced the appointment of Vibhor Jain as its acting Chief Executive Officer, a move that comes during the organization’s ongoing search for a permanent leader. This decision follows the resignation of Thampy Koshy, who held the CEO position for three years before stepping down on April 10.
Leadership Transition
In the wake of Koshy’s departure, ONDC relied on an executive committee to manage operations until June. Jain, who was already part of this committee, is now tasked with guiding the organization through this significant interim phase.
Suresh Sethi, a Board Member at ONDC, expressed confidence in Jain’s capabilities, stating, “The Executive Committee has done a commendable job of guiding ONDC during a critical phase of its journey,” further emphasizing the need for cohesive leadership for key strategic decisions.
The Role of ONDC
ONDC aims to democratize digital commerce in India by connecting various seller and buyer applications across multiple sectors, including mobility, food delivery, ecommerce, logistics, and fashion. Since its inception 30 months ago, the platform has successfully facilitated over 200 million transactions.
Looking Ahead
The appointment of Jain marks a pivotal point for ONDC as it navigates through its next chapter. The organization remains focused on its mission to enhance digital commerce accessibility while driving innovation within the sector.
