Chief, the prominent private network for senior women executives, has appointed Alison Moore as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective February 3, 2025. Moore succeeds co-founder Carolyn Childers, who will transition to the role of Chair of the Board. Co-founder Lindsay Kaplan will continue her involvement as a Board Director.
Founded in 2019, Chief has rapidly grown into a national community with tens of thousands of members from over 10,000 companies, including 77% of the Fortune 100. The organization operates clubhouses in major U.S. cities such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. Chief offers a range of services, including peer mentorship, executive coaching, and educational programs in partnership with institutions like the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Moore brings over two decades of leadership experience across technology, media, and social impact sectors. Prior to joining Chief, she served as CEO of Comic Relief US, where she led initiatives that raised over $436 million to support children and families in need. Her career also includes executive roles at HBO, NBCUniversal, SoundCloud, and Condé Nast, where she was instrumental in driving digital innovation and growth.
A founding member of Chief, Moore expressed her enthusiasm for her new role, stating, “Chief is a beacon for empowering women leaders, and I’m humbled by the opportunity to serve as its next CEO. When I joined Chief as a founding member, I saw the immense power and potential of Chief — all that’s possible when women leaders could learn, connect, and grow together. Chief gives women the unique opportunity to catalyze change across their personal work journey with the most supportive and passionate community behind them.”
Carolyn Childers, reflecting on the leadership transition, remarked, “It has been the greatest honor for Lindsay and me to see how Chief has impacted tens of thousands of women. After months of reflection and planning, we’re excited for this new chapter with Alison at the helm. Her ability to drive innovation where it’s needed, while staying true to a company’s purpose, made her the ideal leader to carry Chief forward.”
The appointment of Moore comes at a pivotal time for Chief, as the organization continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of its members. In recent years, Chief has introduced new membership packages, including one-on-one executive coaching, advisory services, and executive education offerings. These initiatives aim to provide more personalized support for women at various stages of their leadership journeys.
Ken Chenault, Chairman of General Catalyst and a board member at Chief, commented on the leadership transition, saying, “On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Carolyn and Lindsay for their vision and leadership. Together, they built Chief into a dynamic and impactful business and community. We’re thrilled that Alison, an accomplished, mission-driven leader, will build on the strong foundation that Carolyn and Lindsay established for the business, the mission of which is more critical now than ever before.”
As Chief embarks on this new chapter under Moore’s leadership, the organization remains committed to its mission of empowering women in executive roles and fostering a supportive community for their continued growth and success.
