Incense sealing, historically known as xiangzhuan, has been practised for thousands of years. Often used by royalty and noble families, the method involves finely milled aromatic incense powders pressed into intricately carved brass moulds and lit at one end. The smoke rises slowly through carefully perforated openings in specifically designed burner vessels, tracing the shape of a sacred symbol as it burns – leaving a fragrant ash imprint of the symbol behind.

Every Peoni & Stone blend – incense powders, bloom aromatherapy and floral teas – is handcrafted in Julia’s small Sydney studio, made by hand in small batches. Two of Australia’s most sacred botanicals form the foundation of the incense powders and bloom aromatherapy: sandalwood from Western Australia (Santalum spicatum) and CITES-certified agarwood, sustainably grown on regulated plantations in Queensland and the Northern Territory. These are then layered with carefully sourced florals, herbs and resins to create blends aligned with the brand’s four signature intentions – Manifestation, Energy Clearing, Self-Love, and Deep Calm & Relaxation.
