TRVFIT Berkley Builds Community Through the Next Generation of Fitness

TRVFIT Berkley builds community through HYROX, family fitness and Fit Over 50 programs designed for every generation.

Fitness trends come and go, but for Mark and Amy Feiler, owners of TRVFIT Berkley, the most exciting changes happening in fitness today have less to do with appearance and more to do with performance, longevity and connection.
The Feilers are expanding programming at TRVFIT Berkley to meet those changing interests while staying true to what they believe a neighborhood gym should be: a place where people of different ages and fitness levels can challenge themselves, build relationships and become healthier together.
One of the biggest areas of growth is HYROX, the global fitness competition that has quickly developed a passionate following among both competitive athletes and everyday gym members.
Unlike traditional races or strength competitions, HYROX combines running with functional fitness movements such as sled pushes and pulls, rowing, SkiErg, lunges, carries and wall balls. The format has become popular because it gives people a tangible goal to train toward while still incorporating the strength and cardiovascular fitness that translate into everyday life.
TRVFIT Berkley is leaning into that enthusiasm with HYROX-focused classes, personal training and race simulations designed for a wide range of abilities.
“You don’t have to think of yourself as an elite athlete to train for something,” says Mark Feiler. “One of the things we love about HYROX is that it gives people a goal. You can measure your progress, train alongside other people and experience that feeling of preparing for an event together.”
Members interested in HYROX can participate simply for the workout or use TRVFIT’s programming to prepare for an actual competition. Personal training provides another option for members who want more individualized coaching, while simulations allow participants to experience the demands and excitement of race day before entering an official event.

But the Feilers’ vision for TRVFIT extends beyond the latest fitness trend.
The gym is also bringing back Box & Bond, a program designed specifically for parents and their children. The concept combines basic boxing and fitness fundamentals with something increasingly difficult for families to find: uninterrupted time together.
Instead of another afternoon spent separately on phones, tablets or video games, parents and kids train side by side, learning proper movement, boxing fundamentals and fitness skills while working toward a common goal.
“For us, Box & Bond is about much more than boxing,” says Amy Feiler. “Kids get to see their parents working hard, learning something new and sometimes even struggling with the same things they are. There is something really positive about putting the technology away for an hour and accomplishing something together.”
That emphasis on connection is becoming an increasingly important part of the gym’s identity.
While HYROX and Box & Bond represent two of its expanding programs, TRVFIT Berkley continues to offer a variety of classes incorporating strength training, conditioning, cardio and functional fitness. The goal is to provide enough variety that members can continue challenging themselves without feeling that they need to fit a particular definition of what an athlete should look like.

The gym’s next initiative will expand that philosophy to another growing segment of the community with a planned Fit Over 50 program.
Rather than simply offering a lower-intensity version of a traditional workout, Fit Over 50 will focus on the areas that become increasingly important with age: maintaining strength and muscle, cardiovascular fitness, balance, mobility and the ability to continue doing the activities people enjoy.
“We want people to look at fitness as something they can participate in throughout their lives,” Mark says. “Your goals at 25 might be different from your goals at 55 or 65, but being strong, mobile and confident matters at every age.”
For Mark and Amy, the expanding programs reflect the type of gym they want TRVFIT Berkley to become — a community fitness destination where a parent can train with a child, someone in their 50s or 60s can become stronger and healthier, and another member can prepare to cross the finish line at a HYROX competition.
The programs may look different, but the philosophy behind them is the same.
Fitness is better when there is a goal to pursue, someone beside you and a community encouraging you along the way.
