Under the dazzling lights of Taiwan’s National Kaohsiung Center for the Art（Weiwuying), audiences recently witnessed a performance unlike any other. Screens embedded throughout the stage displayed real-time translations and contextualized dialogue, allowing every attendee to engage fully, regardless of language or cognitive differences. For Dr. Sophia Huang, president of I.P.A.C., this performance was more than a showcase, it was a realization of her vision: a theater that is both technologically advanced and human-centered.
The 2026 ODC/Dance Taiwan Tour exemplified this vision. Audience members were not passive observers but active participants in an experience that bridged cultural and linguistic gaps. Powered by Ariel Technology, the AI-driven “Storytelling Supertitles” were designed with accessibility as a priority. These tools assist audiences with hearing impairments, dyslexia, and language barriers, ensuring that no one misses the narrative. Sophia Huang explains, “Theater should be inclusive. By embedding dynamic subtitles directly into the stage environment, I.P.A.C. and ODC transformed traditional theater into a multisensory experience. I.P.A.C. also partnered with Kaohsiung’s Social Affairs Bureau to engage disadvantaged youth. Using productions like The Velveteen Rabbit, the program nurtured empathy, resilience, and collaboration. Students were guided not only in performance skills but in understanding how storytelling can reflect human experience and societal values. These initiatives demonstrate how art can connect communities across borders, fostering understanding and shared human experiences.

Mentorship and talent development are central to I.P.A.C.’s mission. Eleven Taiwanese K–12 dancers joined professional productions, gaining hands-on experience and international exposure.
