Boeing has announced the appointment of Jeff Shockey as Executive Vice President of Government Operations, Global Public Policy, and Corporate Strategy, effective immediately. Shockey returns to Boeing after leading global government relations at RTX and brings over three decades of experience in government affairs and business development.
In his new role, Shockey will oversee Boeing’s interactions with U.S. federal, state, and local governments, as well as international public policy initiatives. He will also manage the company’s sustainability programs and its global philanthropic organization, Boeing Global Engagement. Additionally, Shockey is tasked with ensuring a cohesive corporate strategy that communicates Boeing’s business interests and fosters engagement with public and private stakeholders. He will report directly to Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg and serve on the company’s Executive Council.
“Jeff’s tremendous record of accomplishment across more than 30 years in government, government relations, and business development will be an asset as we work to restore trust with key government stakeholders,” said Ortberg. “His prior experience at Boeing and across the commercial and defense industry will support our ongoing focus on strengthening our culture and building a new future for Boeing based on a strong foundation of safety, quality, and performance.”
Shockey’s previous tenure at Boeing included roles as Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing for Defense, Space & Security, and Vice President of Federal Affairs and International Policy for Government Operations. Before his time at RTX, he also served in senior staff positions within the U.S. House of Representatives, including as staff director of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and as staff director and deputy director of the House Appropriations Committee.
Boeing’s decision to bring Shockey back into the fold comes at a time when the company is seeking to strengthen its relationships with policymakers and enhance its global competitiveness. The aerospace giant has faced challenges in recent years, including production delays and scrutiny over safety practices. By appointing a seasoned government affairs professional with deep ties in Washington, Boeing aims to navigate the complex regulatory landscape more effectively and advocate for policies that support its business objectives.
Shockey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration from California State University, San Bernardino. His extensive experience in both the public and private sectors positions him well to lead Boeing’s government operations and public policy efforts during this critical period.
As Boeing continues to innovate and expand its presence in the aerospace and defense sectors, Shockey’s leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in aligning the company’s strategic goals with governmental policies and regulations. His appointment underscores Boeing’s commitment to fostering a culture of safety, quality, and integrity while engaging constructively with stakeholders across the globe.
