Tailored Brands, Inc., a prominent U.S. retailer best known for its brands Men’s Wearhouse, Jos. A. Bank, and K&G Fashion Superstore, has appointed John Tighe as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. The promotion marks a strategic leadership move aimed at accelerating the company’s growth trajectory and strengthening its position in the modern menswear and formalwear markets.

Tighe joined Tailored Brands in 2022 as President and Chief Customer Officer, where he led customer experience, marketing, merchandising, and omnichannel strategy. During his tenure, he helped implement customer engagement programs and introduced new product offerings tailored to changing consumer lifestyles. His leadership was instrumental in guiding the company through a challenging retail landscape, including the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on formalwear demand, and the broader industry shift toward versatile, hybrid-appropriate clothing.

With over 25 years of experience in retail, Tighe brings an extensive background in merchandising, brand development, and digital innovation. Prior to joining Tailored Brands, he served in several senior executive roles at J.C. Penney, including Chief Merchant, where he oversaw buying, planning, and private brands. Earlier in his career, he held merchandising and strategy positions at Macy’s and May Department Stores, focusing on men’s apparel and general merchandise.

Tailored Brands, which emerged from bankruptcy reorganization in 2020, has since been focused on rebuilding its customer base and modernizing its operations. The company has shifted its strategy to address shifting workplace attire norms, the growing demand for casual yet polished apparel, and the resurgence of special occasion and wedding-related purchases. Under Tighe’s leadership, the company aims to capitalize on this renewed momentum.

“John’s deep understanding of our customers and his commitment to innovation make him the ideal leader to guide Tailored Brands into its next chapter,” said Dinesh Lathi, Chairman of the Board. “His vision for evolving the retail experience, enhancing product relevance, and strengthening omnichannel capabilities is well-aligned with our long-term growth goals.”

In his new role, Tighe will oversee day-to-day operations, long-term strategy, and digital transformation across all Tailored Brands subsidiaries. He is expected to continue enhancing the in-store experience while expanding the company’s digital and e-commerce capabilities. This includes investments in mobile shopping, appointment-based services, and personalized style consultations—efforts that are becoming increasingly important as consumer expectations evolve.

Industry analysts see Tighe’s promotion as a strong signal of continuity and renewed focus on customer engagement. The appointment comes as the men’s apparel sector undergoes rapid changes due to work-from-home flexibility, an uptick in events and weddings, and growing interest in customized, sustainable clothing options. Tailored Brands has responded by diversifying its product lines, introducing comfort-stretch and travel-friendly fabrics, and launching inclusive sizing and fit innovations.

The company’s executive team will work closely with Tighe to execute its transformation strategy, drive operational efficiencies, and position Tailored Brands as a style and service leader for men navigating both traditional and modern dress codes.

With stores across the United States and a growing online presence, Tailored Brands serves millions of customers annually and plays a significant role in outfitting professionals, groomsmen, and everyday shoppers alike. Tighe’s leadership is expected to sharpen that focus while ensuring the company adapts to the future of fashion retail.
